The workshopWhat is the use of a frame? That’s a good question and it isn’t an easy one: to protect, to concentrate and focus one’s eyes on the painting.A frame is an aesthetic element that not only gives value and importance to the painting, but it also full fills our need of a beautiful object. In the world of art, beauty prevails on everything. Beauty improves imagination and it links knowledge and intellect together. There is no progressive order in beauty; it aims at and it depends on our sensibility. The perception of beauty relieves our life, there is no need to discuss about it, and it is childish to debate on it. It is mainly/above all an emotional matter. Beauty conquers people of all classes. The simple research of pleasure changes into an inquiry in the field where interest meets with enjoyment. Therefore, it means to study, to look into the evolution of our intellectual behaviour, searching for that subtle fascination of appearance and of being, and - at the same time - to keep the leading thread with past memories, which have been great in comparison to the aesthetic learning. A frame belongs to the applied arts in a dynamic process which origins from the most important common routes - painting, architecture, sculpture - and places it in its proper art world space. It is extremely important to remember here how this interest has been goaded by the market and specifically by antique dealers who have dedicated their time over the years to the discovery, to the study and to the diffusion of a frame. They looked for the rare and beautiful object and they offered it to the people who knew, just like they did, how to enjoy the beauty of it. They also presented it to future judges in a never ending game, because it has to be like that, because beauty is infinity.
