Carved FramesThe making of carved framesOur frames are hand made in various kinds of wood. We use poplar and linden for the canvas and the hand carved parts are made of "cirmolo", linden, walnut-tree, jelutong, the latter particularly used thanks to its softness and absence of knots. These woods, apart the walnut-tree, are soft woods, not very hard, but compact and solid. They are very good for every type of hand carving: from the 18th century fine carving to the more ponderous carving like the 16th century Florentine frames. Our artisan workshop makes every kind of hand carved frames. We can make every type of carved frame patterns, which means every type of design and every type of carving pattern, even out of our set of samples.
